Spotlight On Neo-Soul Songstress Amel Larrieux — Artist To Watch!
If you’re looking for some new music to add to your playlist, like I usually am, you’ll want to give a listen to the latest offering from neo-soul songress (and former front woman of Groove Theory), Amel Larrieux who is back in biz after a six-year hiatus. Her new album, “Ice Cream Every Day,” hit shelves and iTunes on October 22nd and it is JAM-PACKED with voracious vocals!
Although born in the funky West Village, she grew up in the suburbs of New York, describing herself as “the weird kid.” Her musical influences are “all over the place,” she told me when we met up at the Mercer Hotel in Soho, from Stevie Wonder to Jimi Hendrix to Madonna.
She laughs at the album title, “Ice Cream Everyday,” telling me she’s lactose intolerant but clued me in that its actually a metaphor for finding something to help you escape. She wants to be clear that it doesn’t have to be something material or tangible. It could be swimming or reaching out to help a friend; it can be anything that brings you a drop of joy each day.
Do you love her as much as I do?! The first single off Amel Larrieux‘s new record is called “Afraid” (listen below!) and is produced by long time collaborator and husband, Laru.
Are you intrigued yet…? To learn more about Amel Larrieux and to find out where you can watch her live and on TV, head on over to her website, www.blisslife.com! After the jump, listen to tracks off of “Ice Cream Everyday” and watch a recent performance from Amel of Groove Theory‘s “Tell Me.” (more…)Read More

Spotlight Interview With Electro Pop Artist BAKER
He’s sexy, he’s smart (…went to Harvard!) and he makes music that will make you get on your feet and dance. Meet BAKER. The hottest new face in the world of Electro Pop music. Micah Jesse caught up with Baker:
Describe to me when you first knew you wanted to make music. What was it about making music and/or performing that attracted you?
When I was 8 years old at summer camp, it was my counselor’s idea for all of us to perform “Stand By Me” for the other groups. I remember the counselor loved my voice so much she put the microphone right in front of me, so even though everyone was singing, the crowd could only hear me. And I think on the surface, I enjoyed the attention (I still do) but really it was more about communication. If someone has a voice of their own – whether that means singing or public speaking or writing, they should develop it and share it.
- …to the “electro pop” genre specifically?
That’s the style that fit my writing and my voice the best; it was a pretty clear choice right from the start.
Who do you make music for? Who is your target audience?
I don’t have one; I’ve been amazed by how many different people of all ages and places and walks of life that have discovered my music, so I hope it only continues to expand.Read More

Dishin’ It With Danielle Fishel
Boy Meets World alum Danielle Fishel who is now hosting “The Dish” on the Style Network invited your favorite blogger Micah Jesse to attend a taping of her new show on Thursday night.
We had a blast laughing along with her incredibly funny (scripted) jokes and ad-libs. Danielle fits the part perfectly and we couldn’t be happier about her new gig!
If you haven’t been watching – you absolutely must!
Anyways, we were so happy to bring our good friend Dov with us, as well as the next big thing Jessica Sanchez, and her uncle. We all had so much fun just being there.
Oh…did we mention we met the host of The Soup on E! Joel McHale?!
He was just as funny in person!
It wasn’t long before we were guided to head to the stage where all of the E! shows are taped for the taping of “The Dish” hosted by Danielle Fishel.
After the show, we had a little photoshoot with our good friend Danielle!

Micah Jesse Meets Jessica Sanchez In Hollywood
On Sunday, a few hours after we got off our flight from New York City, we headed over to celebrity hotspot eatery The Ivy on Robertson Boulevard in Los Angeles, California, to meet YouTube singing sensation and up-and-coming album chart topper Jessica Sanchez. Her lovely family joined us for lunch (her uncle, mother and grandmother whom we absolutely adore!)
To see incredible videos of Jessica singing, check out her YouTube channel.
After lunch we took a little video together outside Ken Paves Salon where many Hollywood stars such as Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria get their locks done.
Take a look:
We had a blast. Lunch was delicious!
Afterwards, we walked around Robertson Boulevard and popped into some very chic stores such as Chanel, Lisa Kline, Kitson, and Jessica even did a mini-photoshoot in the adorable kids store Kira Plastina.
We also stopped in to MAC Cosmetics:
Before parting ways, we totally had to GLAM IT UP in front of The Ivy.
Dear Jessica (and fam!),
We had such an amazing time with you. Also, thank you so much for my birthday gift – it was a gift enough to meet you and spend time with you. Looking forward to spending more time together before we head all the way back to the East Coast.
