Anna Faris just shot her cover for SELF Magazine to promote her new movie “Observe & Report” with fellow funnyman Seth Rogen.

Photographer Mark Abrahams directed and shot the cover.

Our tipster tells MicahJesse.com:

  • With hair still damp from the shower, Anna strolled into the studio in a plaid button-down, Paige jeans and scuffed Frye boots. She recently got engaged over Thanksgiving, so she was showing off her ring.
  • She was sweet, easy to talk to, chatty with everyone.
  • The star enjoyed the on-set lunch (chicken, orzo salad, brownies) so much, she made a doggie bag to take home to her fiancé, actor Chris Pratt.
  • She came to the set alone, but her dad calls her several times every day, he called six times. She explained that they talk all the time.
  • She went home with a pair of amazing Chanel shoes
  • Everyone on set sat around and chatted about the Golden Globes, who wore what, acceptance speeches, etc. She didn’t go, instead she stayed home with her fiancé and watched basketball!
  • Anna Faris has had a slew of side-splitting big-screen roles, but as she proved at SELF’s cover shoot, the funniest and most “Hollywood” thing about her is that her cat is in the biz, too!

Quotes from the cover story:

  • “I don’t think nice is necessarily equal to weak. Being mean and catty to me seems like the weaker route.”
  • If you need strength to be nice in highly competitive Hollywood, for comedy, “you have to be brave,” Faris says. “You sort of have to suck it up sometimes.” That’s true off screen, too, she finds. “I’m embarrassed on almost a daily basis,” she says. “Not like blush embarrassed, but more like, ‘That was stupid.’ Or, ‘Why am I wearing this?’ Or, ‘Oh, my God, those people recognize me and I’m eating this huge burrito!’”
  • Faris always goes for the punch line, even when the joke is on her, but it’s not always easy to take things in stride. “It’s still such a prideful struggle—even for someone like me who has made a living out of embarrassing myself.”
  • Faris’s fans aren’t necessarily known for their tact, she says. “They say stuff like, ‘You’re so much shorter in person.’ Or ‘Oh, my God, you look just like that girl, but you are a lot prettier than she is.’ You have to grin and bear it. I might say in return, ‘I know I looked skinnier in The House Bunny, but thanks to my diet of beer and doughnuts, I’m back to my fightin’ weight!’
  • Faris grew up outside of Seattle in a household with very strict rules set by her dad, a sociologist, and mom, a teacher. No television. No movies. No magazines. No video games. No cleavage. “Anything with a V-neck was forbidden,” she recalls. “Stirrup pants? That was a huge issue!”
  • “Even though I’m now in my 30s, I still have my parents sort of haunting me to ‘Act appropriate!’ and ‘Have good manners!’”
  • On being a Producer for The House Bunny: “It’s a challenge to be strong and empathetic. I think that’s a battle all women go through.” Her goal on-set, aside from making a great movie, was to create a fun, supportive environment. “I didn’t always have a great time in my early experiences of filmmaking, and I wanted it to be a really positive experience, where we were living the message of the movie about female friendship.”
