For only the second time in nearly ten years, Oprah Winfrey shares the cover of her best-selling magazine, this time with Ellen DeGeneres!

“When Ellen arrived at the photo shoot for our cover, I didn’t have to ask her how she was doing: it showed on her face,” says Oprah. “She radiated the kind of peace and satisfaction that comes only when you’re living at your highest potential.”

Ellen on why she came out:
“Just to say the words was so huge for me. You know, people say, ‘Why do you have to tell everybody, who cares, and why do you have to announce it?’ It’s because it’s your truth and the truth shall set you free.”
Ellen on laughing more than crying:
“I’m not like a depressed person. But I am saddened by how people treat one another and how we are so shut off from one another and how we judge one another, when the truth is, we are all one connected thing. We are all from the same exact molecules.”
Ellen on wife Portia:
“Well, we’re perfect for each other. She is so beautiful and so smart and so funny, and with her, I have that sense of ‘I’m done now.’ I’m settled. I know that part of my life is taken care of. I’ve got love. I’ve got someone who will be with me till the day I die.”
Ellen DeGeneres on her new gig on American Idol:
“They came to me, and it was a total surprise. I like to try new things because I get bored so easily. And I like the show, so I thought it was a great idea.”
