Micah Jesse caught up with 22-year-old Miss USA winner Kristen Dalton at Samsung’s 8th Annual Four Seasons of Hope gala on Tuesday night (June 16) at Cipriani restaurant on Wall Street.
On Perez Hilton’s politically-charged question to Miss North Carolina Carrie Prejean and the media circus following Miss USA Pageant:
“Well first of all, I think the question was very relevant. All of our questions were politically charged and I think all of our questions were of equal difficulty. So, I definitely think her question was fair. At the same time, it’s [Perez Hilton's] job to be kind of quirky, and what he does is to kind of stimulate controversy, so that’s really all I have to say about how he handled it afterwards.”
On standing up for gay rights:
“We, as pageant girls, we all have a lot of gay friends…I have a ton of gay friends. But as far as standing up for such a controversial issue and taking a side, as Miss USA, because my title — I’m all inclusive — I include all American’s. So, I would never take a stand where I am discriminating against other people.
On being a super fan of John Legend and the chance of getting to talk to him:
“Hopefully I could talk to [John Legend] in a non-creepy way. I’ll just rub up against him and be like (surprised) John?”
