Get ready Gleeks for the arrival of YouTube (and now International) singing sensation Charice on FOX’s hit show “Glee” this upcoming season, which the young singer has officially confirmed via her twitter on Monday (Jun 21).
Earlier this week, EW reported that she was cast for a recurring role as a foreign exchange student, who will allegedly be a rival to Lea Michelle‘s character, Rachel, on the show.
This is positively exciting news, since Charice shot down rumors of her being cast on “Glee” last month, over Twitter.
With rumors in the press swirling about Miss Michelle’s “diva” behavior, maybe the entrance of this humble lil’ girl with a larger than life voice is exactly what Lea needs to remind her that she’s not all that and a bag of Pop Chips!
Not to discount Lea Michelle‘s voice at all, because there is no doubt that she is an extremely talented vocalist, but Charice is a rising young star with the caliber of voice that the World hasn’t heard since Whitney Houston‘s “Bodyguard” days.
Yeah — we said it!
The 18-year-old Filipino singer was discovered on YouTube in 2007, and has been on the road to stardom ever since. She has recently performed on both Ellen Degeneres and The Oprah Winfrey Show.
How can you top that?
Well, if we haven’t enticed you enough, Charice just released her debut album “Charice” in May, with her first single already reaching the top spot on the Bilboard Dance Chart.
MJ believes that a spot on “Glee” is exactly what Charice needs to get the recognition she so deserves!
Don’t know who Charice is? Or do you Gleeks doubt her ability to out-sing your darling Rachel on “Glee”? Check out this video of Charice performing Whitney Houston’s mega-ballad “I Will Always Love You” — Amazing doesn’t even begin to cover it!
