On Tuesday (Dec 1), Alicia Keys performed an exclusive set at New York City’s Nokia Theater for an American Express cardmembers only event in honor of World AIDS day.
The event, which was streaming live on YouTube, benefited Alicia’s charity Keep A Child Alive which “is dedicated to providing life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to children and families in Africa and India whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS.”
“I was able to see the great separation between have and have not,” 28-year-old Keys told the Associated Press. “I was able to see the incredible spirit of people. I was able to learn firsthand about the AIDS pandemic of Africa.”
During the concert, Alicia asked attendees to text the word “ALIVE” to 90999 to donate $5 to her charity.
MicahJesse.com did it — twice!
…and you should, too!
You can donate and find out more information at the official KACA website here.
The soft-spoken singer with a huge voice serenaded the room with her vocals.
She performed some of her prime time hits like “Fallin” and “If I Ain’t Got You” as well as some of her new hits like “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart”!
If this doesn’t sound like an amazing enough experience — mega superstar Jay-Z popped on stage for an impromptu finale performance of their hit song together, “Empire State of Mind (Part II).”
The crowd…went…wild!
FYI: Alicia‘s new album “The Element of Freedom,” is set for release on December 15!
