It happened last night…and we hope you didn’t miss it! Here are some of our thoughts from the night!
- Janet Jackson kicked off the show with an “8 Minutes of Janet Jackson” medley performance (ahem, lip synching) of some of her biggest hits – in an outfit that made her look just as big! We love her, but her stylist should be fired for that outfit!
- The Black Eyed Peas won the first award of the night (much deserved!)
- Shakira performed her new hit single “Give It Up To Me” and blew it through the roof! Only Shakira could pull that off!
- HUH? Moment: Does Keith Urban really have glitter on his guitar strap? And shiny lines on his shirt while he sings “I Wanna Kiss A Girl”? Strange.
- Reba McEntire looked great introducing her “good buddy” Kelly Clarkson! Kelly performed a magical and soothing version of her hit single “Already Gone.” She looked great in a black floor-length gown.
- Jay-Z and Alicia Keys performance of “Empire State of Mind” did not disappoint!
- NEARLY NSFW: “Nine” costars Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman introduced the Black Eyed Peas at Sunday night’s American Music Awards, as Peas’ singer Fergie is also in the film. During the intro, Hudson almost had a “nip slip” when she leaned forward and her metallic dress went with her.
- The Black Eyed Peas performance of “Boom Boom Pow” was a smash!
- Strapped to a gurney, Rihanna performed a medley of “Wait Your Turn” and “Hard,” both from her new album, Rated R (out tomorrow 11/23)
- Carrie Underwood looked radiant in a gold metallic outfit performing “Cowboy Cassanova”!
- WOW! Moment: Lady Gaga never disappoints, but her electronic flashing outfit was a true smash!
- Gloriana who? Has anyone ever heard of them? Well, at least they admitted it!
- The guy dancing during Alicia Keys‘ performance was distracting and annoying, but we couldn’t stop staring at Alicia’s jacket. We later found out it’s Moschino!
- It’s Been Decided: 50 Cent and Eminem‘s performance should have been called “Bleep” — can you say, “ghetto?”
- Timbaland‘s performance was a mess! No choreography! But welcome back, Nelly Furtado!
- Whitney Houston had a major comeback moment singing “I Didn’t Know My Own Strength”! She looked radiant in a floor length white gown. After her performance, Samuel L. Jackson presented Houston with the AMA’s “International Artist of the Year” award. Much deserved! Whitney can still make the hair on our neck stand up!
- American Idol runner up Adam Lambert is definitely going to have conservatives talking tomorrow with his raunchy performance of “For Your Entertainment” – kissing girls and guys – channeling a bisexual version of the MTV Video Music Awards moment with Madonna, Christina Aguilera, and Britney Spears! We love him for breaking the mold, but his vocals were not on point for the final performance of the night!
