Who Are The 2012 Leading Ladies In Television?
With all the Primetime Emmy Awards already given out and the excitement just behind us, there were some “stars,” we think, who didn’t get proper recognition… Entertainment site Zimbio has tuned into the social media mavens, stars under 30 and even some unexpected icons who currently wield the most impact on and off the small screen from Kelly Ripa to Snooki and everyone in between. They ran the numbers, quantified the data, and tallied the tweets to determine the most powerful women in television in five key categories:
Social Media: Ellen DeGeneres (Twitter Followers: 13.4 million, Facebook Fans: 3.5 million)—”Laugh. Dance. Tweet.” That’s the headline on the front page of Ellen DeGeneres’ Twitter feed, and it perfectly describes the joyful comedienne/talk show host’s social media philosophy. DeGeneres is a consistent, if not prolific, Tweeter who loves to post pictures and links to recent interviews, best wishes to her favorite celebs, and lighthearted quips like, “Where do I vote for Michelle Obama‘s arms?” Just like her daily talk show, Ellen’s social media presence is refreshingly positive and not afraid to be a little bit (or a lot) silly.
Actresses: Melissa McCarthy—This Mike & Molly star is a mold-breaker who doesn’t look like most women on TV and is proud of it. The actress and mom worked her way up the ranks for years, appearing in lots of smaller roles before nabbing the role of Sookie St. James on Gilmore Girls. But it took a sitcom about a couple that meets at Overeaters Anonymous and a fearlessly funny turn in Bridesmaids to truly make McCarthy a star. A surprise Emmy and one Oscar nomination later, the actress is riding high and loving life.
Under 30: Honey Boo Boo (Age 7)—Even if you don’t like Honey Boo Boo, you probably spent at least part of your summer talking about her. The seven-year-old, whose real name is Alana Thompson, had one of the most buzzed about new shows to come around in a long time thanks to her proudly redneck family and their jaw-dropping antics. TLC’s Here Comes Honey Boo Boo dominated the summer TV conversations, and also boasted some impressive ratings, even beating out the Republican National Convention during its time slot. It’s hard to say just how long America’s love affair with Honey Boo Boo will last, but it’s safe to say that Alana and the rest of the Thompson family are enjoying their ride on the 15-Minutes-of-Fame train.
Personalities: Judge Judy—Judy Sheindlin passed the New York bar exam in 1965 and quickly became known for her no-nonsense attitude in family court cases. After retiring as a family court judge in 1996, she was approached about doing a small syndicated court series that would feature real cases and real rulings. Sixteen years later, Judge Judy is the most watched show in all of daytime and Sheindlin makes an astounding $45 million per year. She’s also got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and a few best-selling novels.
Behind the Scenes: Shonda Rhimes (Creator, Showrunner, Writer — Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, Scandal)—Most people would be content with one hit television show, but this hard working writer/producer not only helms long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy, but she also calls the shots on Grey’s spin-off Private Practice and D.C. drama Scandal. Rhimes’ shows have become fan favorites not just for their high-stakes drama and scintillating romances, but also for their colorblind casting. Diversity on television is an issue dear to the showrunner’s heart, and one she’s been outspoken about in the past. With over 27 million people watching her three shows every week, Shonda Rhimes is not only TV’s most prolific writer/producer, but also one of its most powerful voices.Read More

Celebrities Shop For A Cause At Super Saturday 15 — Raising $3.6 Million For Ovarian Cancer Research Fund
Super Saturday is one of my favorite events of the year!
Why, you ask? Because celebrities and socials come together on a big field in the Hamptons to shop for a good cause. It is a fun-filled, family-oriented daylong fundraiser, complete with a one-of-a-kind designer garage sale, kids’ carnival and activities, a luxury raffle and gourmet treats.
Once dubbed “the Rolls Royce of garage sales,” the most anticipated element of Super Saturday is the fashion garage sale, which includes merchandise from over 200 prominent designers including: Donna Karan, Theory, alice + olivia, J Brand, Diane von Furstenberg, HelmutLang, Intermix, Scoop NYC, Splendid, Smythson and Ralph Lauren. For the fifth consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth by Rachel Zoe will feature luxury designers such as Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som, Chloe, J Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Marchesa.
Kelly Ripa, Paula Patton, Donna Karan and Ariel Foxman hosted the afternoon with other notable guests including: Matthew Settle, Mark Feuerstein, Lara Spencer, Star Jones, Tiffani Thiessen, Sam Champion, Beth Ostrosky Stern, Josh Elliott, Judith Giuliani,Hilary Rhoda, Alina Cho, Nick Loeb, June Ambrose, George Kotsiopoulos, Jeannie Mai, Isaac Mizrahi, Jonathan Cheban, Kyle Richards, Ingrid Vandebosch, Veronica Webb, Hilary Rhoda, Diem Brown, Chaske Spencer and Jessica Hart among others.
Kyle Richards from Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” was thrilled to get her hands on a Midnight Purple Nintendo 3DS for her daughter Portia. She mentioned that the family is headed on a summer vacation to Turkey and Israel in early August and she knew this was the perfect way to keep the family entertained.
Shoppers were treated to an outrageous food buffet and day long open bar, with refreshments from ZICO coconut water and snacks from Popchips.
Despite rainy weather, the 15th annual Super Saturday raised $3.6 million for Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Amazefest USA! Check out more HOT SHOTS from Super Saturday 15…after the jump!Read More

Girls Generation Makes Network Television Debut — Singing “Boys!” — Watch It Now!
They’re huge in Tokyo, and now they’re ready to show America what they’ve got… Meet Girls Generation!
The all-girl-group (consisting of nine girls!) made their U.S. debut on The Late Show with David Letterman last night, performing their hit single “Boys.” Dave also guests Regis Philbin and Bill Murray.
Watch their performance of “Boys:”
The girls’ performance started off a little shaky but they pulled through in the end, bringing all the sass and attitude a girl group needs! Then — just less than 12 hours after their “Late Show” appearance aired — the girls appeared on “Live! With Kelly” once again dancing up a storm with “The Boys” – though they lucked out with a bigger stage for them to shake their booties.
What do YOU think of Girls Generation? Can the K-Pop group break into mainstream?Read More

Regis Philbin Strips For Snooki — Proving You Can Still Be Fabulous At 80!
On ‘Live with Regis and Kelly’ today (Oct 27), 80-year old Regis Philbin decided to give “Guidos” everywhere a run for their money!
Though Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi (of the hit MTV show “Jersey Shore”) provoked him, Regis seemed all to eager to show off his chest. You’d think his co-host Kelly Ripa would discourage him from acting out a routine from ‘Showgirls’ but she, like the audience, cheered him on.
There’s no use hiding it, this clip is thoroughly nuts and yet irresistibly watchable. It’s no wonder television audiences are glued to ‘The Jersey Shore’…Snookie has the power to make respectable talk show hosts strip on-air! Loves it!Read More

Kim Kardashian & Kelly Ripa: Super Saturday PSA Co-Hosts!
Kelly Ripa and Kim Kardashian have at least one thing in common (other than being a celebrity)… they both want to fight ovarian cancer!
The two TV gals will co-host the annual QVC Presents Super Saturday Live event on QVC on Saturday (July 30) at 2 PM.
The exclusive sale, which was previously only available to Hamptons’ tastemakers and celebrities, will reach QVC’s more than 98 million U.S. households, allowing shoppers throughout the country to get designer styles at approximately HALF the manufacturer’s suggested retail price.
Trust us…it’s a-ma-zing!
Ripa, a longtime supporter of OCRF, has hosted Super Saturday for the past seven years, and will once again host the event to celebrate its 14th year.
“I am thrilled to be teaming up with Kim again to support such a wonderful cause,” said Ripa. “We always have a blast when we’re together and it’s great to be able to help spread the word about such an amazing event.”
Kardashian, who is also a strong advocate for OCRF, said, “With so many women affected by Ovarian Cancer each year, the importance for awareness is now more important than ever. It’s truly a pleasure to work with Kelly to make sure that every woman knows the facts about this unrecognizable disease.”Read More

Kevin Jonas: I Want To Be Kelly Ripa’s Co-Host On LIVE! – EXCLUSIVE
Kevin Jonas wants to replace Regis Philbin on “LIVE! With Regis and Kelly!”
“I want that job!!” Kevin told Micah Jesse exclusively on Thursday night (Jun 2) in NYC. “I’ve hosted so many award shows with my brothers by now… I think I’d be perfect. Plus — I’d bring a whole new demographic to the show.”
He may be only 23-years-old, but Kevin believes that he’s mature enough to take on the role of Kelly Ripa‘s co-host since he’s traveled the world with his brother band, The Jonas Brothers, and has been married for two years now to Danielle Deleasa.
“Oh and also, it’s great because the show tapes during the year and they have the Summers off so I could still tour. It’s perfect!” Kevin gushed to MJ at the GREY/Alliance rooftop party, as his manager tried to shush him.
Speaking of Summer, KJ told MJ he’s really looking forward to spending the summer with wife, “Dani,” settling into their new East Coast home. Kevin and his New Jersey-native wife, who was not at the bash, will also be gearing up for a jam-packed wedding season this year.
But how does he manage attending all these weddings with such a a crazy tour schedule?
“I call the office and we block it out on the schedule,” KJ told us.
His dedication is undeniable. Let’s see how dedicated he is to catching the attention of the loveable Kelly Ripa. Perhaps he’ll make a YouTube video audition? (We can only dream!)

Meagan Fox: I Have A Crush On Kelly Ripa
In an unconventional new interview, scorching hot actress Megan Fox sits down with “Jennifer’s Body” writer Diablo Cody for the latest episode of Red Band Trailer.
The foxy 24-year-old revealed that she once lived at The Oakwood (a famous furnished apartment complex in Burbank where many child stars go to live when they first move to Hollywood) and hung out with other soon-to-be-celebs like Hilary Duff, Frankie Muniz, and Shia LeBouf. She admitted many of them were “socially awkward” because they had been famous from a very young age. Fox, on the other hand, didn’t start her big time acting career until she was 17-going-on-18.
Meagan also admitted to Diablo that she has a crush on TV personality Kelly Ripa! (Hey, Mark Consuelos! How ’bout a steamy ménage à trois?)
If these outtakes are any indication of what else is in the interview, you’ll have to watch the latest episode of “Red Band Trailer” below to find out even more about the foxy Fox:Read More

BEAT THE HEAT! Celebs Cool Off At Super Saturday 13′s Nintendo Lounge!
It was a scorcher this Saturday, but it sure was… Super!
On Saturday (July 31), Kelly Ripa and Twilight beauty Ashley Greene co-hosted the annual Super Saturday 13 event in Watermill, New York.
The event is so “super” because it’s an all-day shopping event featuring major designers (think Giorgio Armani, J Brand, DKNY, Diane von Furstenberg), all selling their clothes at seriously discounted prices to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund (OCRF).
How much do you love that?
So many celebs came out to support and shop including Beth Stern, Christie Brinkley, Christy Turlington, Edie Falco, Gayle King, Hilary Rhoda, Ingrid Vandebosch, Kelly Klein, Kelly Rutherford, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Kris Jenner, Mark Feuerstein, Michelle Trachtenberg, Mariska Hargitay, Matthew Settle, Rachel Zoe, Scott Disick, Thalia, Star Jones, Tinsley Mortimer, Alexandra Wentworth, Gabe Saporta, Jessica Hart, Adrienne Bailon, Rudy and Judith Giuliani.
In between shopping, though, celebs could stop and get Pinkberry, or a CRUMBS cupcake, get their nails done by Essie manicurists, or pop into the Nintendo Lounge to cool off. MJ popped in with his celeBFF Adrienne Bailon, and so did celeBuddies Michelle Trachtenberg, wearing Rebecca Taylor, and Cobra Starship’s Gabe Saporta.

Kelly Ripa: A Proud Ally Of The Gays!
On Monday night (Jun 28), stars such as Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Jason Mraz, Ana Ortiz and many others aligned at Capitale in NYC for the 10th Annual Trevor Project Summer Gala.
The Trevor Project, which was started in 1998, is the leading organization concerned with crisis and suicide prevention for LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and questioning) youth, and operates a 24-hour hotline for youth struggling with issues concerning their sexuality and gender. Their Summer Gala was held in honor of Vanessa Williams and Macy’s.
Kelly Ripa, who was accompanied by her steamy husband Mark Consuelos, wore a gorgeous Roland Mouret dress, spoke to MJ about her support for the LGBTQ community.
When asked by MJ why it was important for her to support such an organization, the talk show host, who describes herself as a “Bomb” parent replied: “What if my kids couldn’t come to me if they were dealing with their sexuality and gender? Who would they turn to? It’s nice to know as a parent that an organization like the Trevor Project exists for those who need it.”
…with an answer like that MJ knows she’s a “Bomb Mom”!
However, the gala was honoring another “Bomb Mom” that evening: Vanessa Williams. James Lecesne, a co-founder of the Trevor Project and also the man who gave Miss Williams her first job in the business as his back-up singer 25 years ago, stated that the actress was chosen because “she has never shied away from being who she was or is.”
And that was the bottom line on Monday: “Be Who You Are”
Jason Mraz, the performer of the evening, revealed to MJ that the Trevor Project is an organization close to his heart as “it gives information to the youth to enable them to fully express themselves.” Jason said that, he too, was often made fun of in school because he was creative, hung out with all the girls, and was (surprisingly) a member of his high school cheerleading team. (As a Sidenote: MJ must mention that Jason revealed he has “a special friend, who touches him on a profound level.” Who could that be?)
The night proved to be a great one, and MJ is happy to see stars lend their names in support of the LGBTQ community, promising a more accepting future for us all.
Ana Ortiz, Vanessa Williams‘ former cast member on “Ugly Betty,” put it best when speaking against prejudice toward the gay community, saying, “Wake up, It’s 2010. Get with the program!”
