FOOD FRENZY! The Meatball Shop Is NYC’s Newest Hotspot!

Once upon a time, Daniel Holzman and Michael Chernow were bandmates at LaGuardia High School and they dreamt of opening a restaurant together.

Well, wallah, boys! You not only have a restaurant, but you have a real hit!!!

The Meatball Shop (pictured left) on New York City’s Lower East Side only looks this empty and serene when it is closed for business. This one-of-a-kind hot spot (The Meatball Shop, 84 Stanton St.) is unique in three things: you can create your own delicious meatball creations, it’s open late (’til 3 AM most nights) and you can do it for cheap! (Unheard of in Manhattan)

But what do the men behind the hot spot think makes this spot so hot?

Chernow (Owner/Manager) says, “People come here to eat, and the food is delicious. You can have a very light meal, you can have a really indulgent meal. Whatever you want to do. Unfortunately for the guests, fortunately for us, there happens to be a wait a lot of the time.”

…and isn’t that the truth! This place is so hard to get into (especially late-night), but it is every bit worth the wait! And quite a few celebs pop in too, but neither owners will kiss and tell. But, word on the street is that the Mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, is a fan of The Meatball Shop!

Mayjah!

When MJ stopped by earlier this month, owner/chef Daniel Holzman told MJ that he had no idea his restaurant would be this big of a hit, but he sure isn’t complaining about it!

Congrats, guys! Meatballs for everyone!
